Day 1 – Arrival in Cusco + Acclimatization
On the first day, we’ll pick you up from Cusco’s Velazco Astete Airport and take you to your hotel, where you can unpack and rest. On this day, we’ll explain all the activities we’ll be doing over the following days, as well as give you recommendations. Don’t forget to drink herbal infusions for altitude sickness, such as coca or muña tea, which you’ll find available at the hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring Cusco’s historic center at your own pace.
Day 2 – Sacred Valley of the Incas
We begin the tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop is the textile centers of Chinchero, followed by its archaeological complex. Then we continue to Moray, the famous Inca agricultural laboratory, and on to the Maras Salt Mines, where you can see and taste salt from the thousands of pools in this unique place.
We arrive in Urubamba for lunch before continuing to one of the last Inca fortresses, Ollantaytambo. After the visit, we head to the train station to board the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night—the prelude to the big day.
Day 3 – Machu Picchu
After a hearty breakfast, we head to the bus station that will take us to the entrance of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Together with a guide, we’ll follow the designated circuit, stopping at the most iconic viewpoints to take souvenir photos in this magnificent place that will recharge your energy.
In the afternoon, we return to the train station to travel back to Ollantaytambo and from there continue by road to Cusco.
Day 4 – Rainbow Mountain
Day 4 starts very early. Between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel to begin our journey. The transportation makes a stop in Cusipata for a buffet breakfast and then continues straight to Pitumarca. The vehicle drops us off there to start the ascent, which you can do on foot, or by renting a horse, motorbike, or ATV. If you decide to walk, the climb will take about an hour and a half with rest stops, and the guide will accompany you at all times.
Because of the altitude on this day, it’s recommended to bring warm clothing, trekking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a rain jacket (depending on the season of your trip), and some cash. After descending from the mountain, our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata for lunch and then on to Cusco.
Day 5 – Cusco City Tour
This day will be more relaxed. Starting at 9:00 a.m., we’ll begin a walking tour of Cusco, visiting places such as the main square (Plaza de Armas), the Cathedral, Qoricancha, Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay, among others. We’ll finish the tour around 1:00 p.m., and you’ll have the rest of the day free to relax or keep exploring Cusco.
Day 6 – Humantay Lake
Between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel to start a new adventure, this time to Humantay Lake. Our transportation takes us to Mollepata, where we’ll have breakfast, and then continues on to Soraypampa. From there, the hike of approximately 2 hours up to the lake begins. You can also opt to go up on horseback instead of walking. Once at the top, you’ll be able to take fantastic photos, so don’t forget to plan your best outfit for this day.
After finishing the hike, our transportation takes you back to Cusco, where you can rest.
Day 7 – Farewell to Cusco
Your last day in Cusco will depend greatly on your flight time. If it’s not early in the morning, you can use the time to wander around the city center, make your last purchases, or visit places like handicraft markets, restaurants, traditional streets, and of course, take your final photos of the trip. Transportation will then take you to the airport so you can board your domestic flight to Lima and then your international flight home. This is where the adventure ends.
